Halloween Candy Ideas and Cupcakes

I hope your head is spinning with Halloween ideas!  Mine certainly has been.  I’ve been working on a project for Tiny Prints and although I can’t give you a sneak peek just yet, I can show you some of the candy I used in the photo shoot. I was looking for unique candy and edible decorations and found these: I fell in love with Wilton’s pumpkin and candy corn holding ghosts.  Did it pain me not to make my own? … [Read More]

Calligraphy, Hand Lettering and Inspiration Boards at Sugar Paper Los Angeles

Hello!  Mid-September.  I cannot believe it.  Can you? I’ve been busy away from home for the past couple of weeks so I haven’t baked a darned thing!  It does make sticking to a diet easier though and I’m the kind of gal who needs a creative diversion. I want to share a fun thing I did for two days this past week.  I took a calligraphy and hand lettering class at the Sugar Paper studio in LA taught by Molly… [Read More]

A Formula To Help Set Priorities in Life

A very wise woman shared this with me yesterday as I was waffling some options in life: 365 days x 80 years (for the sake of longevity reference) = 29,200 Days available from birth 365 days x 56 (use your current age) = 20,440 Days used (gasp!) 29,200 (days available from birth) – 20,440 (days used) = 8760 Days remaining (hopefully healthy and productive) When it’s laid out in front of us in numbers sometimes it becomes clearer. Does it… [Read More]

Backyard Movie Night With Party Crashers Cary and Grace

This past weekend we held our annual backyard movie night.  Our Southern Californian summer temperatures have been unexpectedly autumnal for our guests to comfortably sit outside into the night for a few hours so when a warming trend began we jumped upon the opportunity. Our backyard movie night was also brought to you by our sponsor – Chinet!  When Chinet contacted me and asked if I would be interested in participating in their summer campaign of The Lost Art Challenge… [Read More]

Chocolate – Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Cookies

Twenty-two years ago I bought a delightful cookie book written by Debbi Fields.  Yes, the cookie maven, Mrs. Fields.  It was the third cookbook I owned in which turned out to be a vast collection. One recipe alluded me back then – Jessica’s Marshmallow Clouds.  When I had made the cookies, the marshmallows melted into the cookies and disappeared.  I wasn’t the adventurous baker then as I am now (ahem) so I turned the page and went on to other… [Read More]

Baby Blue and White Balloon Cookies with a Washi Tape DIY –Part Deux

white balloon baby birthday cookies-169

If you read my previous post about the white balloon cookies, you saw simple and elegant white balloons where the lollipop sticks were wrapped in washi tape and tied with kitchen twine around the neck of the balloon cookie. Since I had extra dough, I decided to decorate a few more cookies for fun.  This little cutie pie on the invitation is my great-nephew, Daniel. Pearlized baby blue dragees made their appearance onto the cookie.  Such a sweet look.  I… [Read More]

Balloon Cookies For A Sweet One-year-old’s Birthday–Part Une

white balloon baby birthday cookies-162

I know.  That’s a big headline for simple and elegant white balloon cookies with a French twist but a first birthday is a very special occasion to celebrate. When my niece, Lauren, showed me the invitation she was going to use for her little boy’s birthday with a white balloon pictured on it, I immediately thought of white balloon cookies to give to guests as party favors.  They would compliment the invitation but also the theme of all-white decorations at… [Read More]

The OC Fair and Competition Results

The results are in and mama took home some color! I also Instagramed the fair because I’m lovin’ being so portable. 1st Place – Single Crust with a fruit filling.  I made the best Dutch Apple Pie, at least my family thinks so and apparently the judges did too.  I’ll post the recipe this summer so you can make it too. I also made this funky little video.  My tasty treat will be twirling for a month’s stay in it’s… [Read More]

Lemonade Love DIY at Tiny Prints

Today I’m over at Tiny Prints where I posted a Lemonade Love Party Lanterns DIY inspired by their Lemonade Love invitation to a summer party. Using the mason jar theme,  you can add to your party’s ambiance with pretty ribbons that catch the breeze and add color during the day then gives a soft, flickering glow at night. Come visit to see what supplies you’ll need and how to make them for your outdoor entertaining.  I hope you find some… [Read More]
