One of my favorite things to do at this time of year is to venture into my other Happiest Place on Earth – Williams-Sonoma, and see what’s new for the season or to visit things I annually covet. Embroidered pumpkin napkins. They were on-sale in the store at 15% off for a limited time only, as they say. With the heady holiday scent of the mulling spices simmering through the store they rendered me powerless to resist. These napkins had… [Read More]
This week I received a couple of disgruntled emails. These two readers have been following my blogging baking adventures as of late and feel deprived and left out of the baking loop, so to speak. It seems I have forgotten college boys cannot live on Physics and Chemical Engineering classes alone and need chocolate chip cookies sent from home. These cookies are my grandmother’s recipe. She made them. My mother made them. I make them. They are crunchy on the… [Read More]
I know you’ve seen this picture before from a recent post on decorated fall leaf cookies but today it is featured on Martha Stewart’s Dreamers Into Doers! It is such a thrill for one of my babies to be featured.Thank you Martha, & staff, for this honor!
As the wedding dinner in the vineyard was transitioning into evening, Adirondack chairs painted specially to complement the colors of the wedding were set up around the large fire ring. Plum colored pillows added coziness when the sun fell as did a basket full of purple and blush hued pashminas for the ladies. Such a thoughtful touch. One last push on the swing. A perfect dinner. With perfect company. Magic. Enchantment. Good conversation. Music. Dancing. And what kind of a… [Read More]
When I found out Kate Spade was introducing lip color I was very excited to try it. I ordered 3 colors – Fuchsia Fete; Adventurous Red & Pop Art Pink. I loved the packaging. With the spring loaded case. In fact, when I opened the boxes the lipsticks sprang open. Surprise! I eventually would have figured out how to open the case but it was a nice introduction. But when you like the packaging over the lip color it’s a… [Read More]
With over 150 cookies to still decorate for this week, half of them needing to be finished by tomorrow and the other half by Wednesday, I expected to have celebrated my anniversary in the kitchen with a few pastry bags but my sweet groom surprised me by heading out early to buy me my favorite misto accompanied with flowers and a very sweet card telling me he had made reservations for dinner at one of my happiest place on earth,… [Read More]
This is where I am today. This is where I’ve been all week. I’m second guessing all my design possibilities for a vineyard wedding. The save-the-date announcement was decorated with a wine bottle cork so I thought I would tie the cookies into the theme. The cookies will be attached to the front of the out-of-town baskets. No pressure to be front and center! The creative process has not exactly been flowing as smoothly as thinned royal icing. I started… [Read More]
I had some fun this weekend at my niece’s birthday party. I took my iPad along and took a video with a new app I downloaded called 8mm HD. There are different styles to film in so I used the 60’s and added a little film jitter, as it’s called, on the app. It’s where the film frame flicks up or down. The room was a little dark but it was fun to just experiment. Then to make the movie,… [Read More]
