Saturday was date night per se. We drove up PCH through Laguna Beach for dinner at Modo Mio. The sunset was gorgeous after a crystal clear day reaching into the high 70’s. This is an unexpected little jewel of a restaurant in the Crystal Cove center between Laguna and Newport Beach. The food is very good and it’s nice to know you can still get cozy ambiance with table linens and an entre under $20. This makes me want to… [Read More]
Emerald Earrings ‘as seen on TV’
I must confess.I’m watching the Beverly Hills Housewives franchise this season.I didn’t mean to, honest, but I was bewitched by the jewelry. Particularly by the emerald earrings Kyle wore. I can’t even believe I dare to name one of the characters on my blog. This is where jewelry will take me. These are the earrings that fueled my weakness.Did you see how gorgeous they looked against Kyle’s dark hair?Faux. No doubt like many other “accessories” on the show, if you know… [Read More]
Tuesday
Hello friends! Thank you for your patience while I attended to real life last week. I had a huge list to accomplish and I got all of it done except one! I’ve also been rockin’ the new year with 2 – 4 hour lunches with girl friends and today’s included 3 martinis! By 5 o’clock we even contemplated ordering appetizers for dinner accompanied by another martini. I felt so decadent.I’ve had a great year so far. I hope you have… [Read More]
Today.
Work piled up. Offices neglected. Wrapping/junk room to be dismantled. Calendars needing to be updated. Copy to revise. Photos to edit. Website to complete. Cookies to decorate. Decorations needing to be put away. One son back at college. The other to return tomorrow. Overwhelmed but functional. Wonderfully hungover on holiday happiness. Got to get crackin’. What does today have in store for you?
Float On 2011
For me, as I think it is for most of us, New Year’s Eve is a time to look back as well as forward. Auld Lang Syne and all that.A little melancholy mixed in with the champagne and noisemakers. A cocktail of sweet vermouth and bitters strangely mixed to a balance. 36 years ago tonight I stood on a float for the Rose Parade and waited while the preliminary judging took place which would decide my fate of how my… [Read More]
Water, Water Everywhere
We woke up to the fire department in our cul-de-sac. Looks like the hill at the end of our street which is 2 houses away from us is saturated and is starting to come down. If you’ve been listening to the news you know SoCal has had 6 days of non-stop rain which is highly unusual for us. The neighbors at the end of the street have water coming into their house and if you look at the picture you… [Read More]
Organizing Marc Jacobs
Marc Jacobs – Leola Not to outdo Santa but I wanted my own big bag this Christmas.Black.With zippers. I knew if I had put it on my list by the time Santa’s elves hit the mall it would have been gone. As it was Nordstrom put out an A.P.B. for me and found it at the mothership in Seattle ridiculously on sale. As a result I can guarantee the sales associate will be on Santa’s ‘good girls’ list. When I… [Read More]
Terrific Tote
I waded through all my Cyber Monday emails today and found a new source for a tote bag in my favorite 2-color combination ~ Hot pink and a bright buttery yellow. I liked these too. Sometimes, all one needs is something pretty to look at. It was like a breath of fresh air amid ads of every possible electronic gift imaginable. Thanks Ame & Lulu.I needed that.
Happy Thanksgiving To You!
So much prepping, so little time! Both refrigerators have been thoroughly cleaned, organized and are re-stocked. The boys’ beds have been made and are awaiting their arrival late Wednesday night. Crystal and silver are shining and individual pumpkin tureens wait for their proper placement for Thursday’s dinner. The linens needed will be ironed today with back up ready for another dinner on Saturday. My intention was to post more appetizers last week but blogging just got pushed down further on… [Read More]
