A Vineyard Wedding – Part 3

As the wedding dinner in the vineyard was transitioning into evening, Adirondack chairs painted specially to complement the colors of the wedding were set up around the large fire ring. Plum colored pillows added coziness when the sun fell as did a basket full of purple and blush hued pashminas for the ladies. Such a thoughtful touch. One last push on the swing. A perfect dinner. With perfect company. Magic. Enchantment. Good conversation. Music. Dancing. And what kind of a… [Read More]

Kate Spade’s Supercalifragilipstick! Review

When I found out Kate Spade was introducing lip color I was very excited to try it. I ordered 3 colors – Fuchsia Fete; Adventurous Red & Pop Art Pink. I loved the packaging. With the spring loaded case. In fact, when I opened the boxes the lipsticks sprang open. Surprise! I eventually would have figured out how to open the case but it was a nice introduction. But when you like the packaging over the lip color it’s a… [Read More]

Cookie Blockage

This is where I am today. This is where I’ve been all week. I’m second guessing all my design possibilities for a vineyard wedding. The save-the-date announcement was decorated with a wine bottle cork so I thought I would tie the cookies into the theme. The cookies will be attached to the front of the out-of-town baskets. No pressure to be front and center! The creative process has not exactly been flowing as smoothly as thinned royal icing. I started… [Read More]

Ready! iPad! Action!

I had some fun this weekend at my niece’s birthday party. I took my iPad along and took a video with a new app I downloaded called 8mm HD. There are different styles to film in so I used the 60’s and added a little film jitter, as it’s called, on the app. It’s where the film frame flicks up or down. The room was a little dark but it was fun to just experiment. Then to make the movie,… [Read More]

Under The Weather…

Yep. That’s where I’ve been. Why isn’t there a term ‘over the weather‘ when we’re feeling chipper and good? Anyway, because of this I haven’t been on the computer or at my camera so the Meri Meri cupcake kit give-away will take place on Monday. Thanks for your patience. Have an ‘over the weather’ weekend. 🙂 xoxo

Another County Fair. Another Sweet, Chocolately Win!

Booyah! (I can’t believe I just said that). Chocolate layer cake lightening can strike twice and it did this past weekend as my son’s entry at the Los Angeles County Fair won First Place in chocolate layer cakes and Best of Division for all layer cakes! Coming off our victory from the OC Fair in July, we thought, just for fun, to go for the big daddy of fairs and around these parts it’s the LA County Fair. The fair… [Read More]

‘Best of Show’ and Other Pretty Ribbons

I hope you’ll allow me my ‘15 seconds, minutes or written lines of fame’ ‘cuz this is going to be one braggy blog post. It’s my story of entering the 2011 Orange County Fair Culinary Arts Division this summer. It all started with my husband who lovingly encouraged me to enter cookies I made for my niece’s wedding this past May. Those who love you are always your biggest fans. Since I had a few extra left over I thought,… [Read More]
