Monday.

My college boy-to-be and I had a great time together checking out what will soon be his home away from home. We stared out with lunch at Phillippe’s in LA across from Olvera St. and the Union Station. We also took a slight scenic detour and drove through Los Olivos and Solvang. On our way home we hit Phillippe’s again with all the Dodger fans.

Here is a picture of one of the college town’s landmarks.

Bubblegum Alley

You could not get me to walk down through the wall-to-wall gunk. yuck.

The campus police chief was one of the best and most entertaining of the speakers.

He said to tell your student that their college experience is a ‘shared experience.’
You don’t mind sharing your money if they share their experiences.

I am so using this line.

I was shocked to hear the California University system is cutting 40,000 incoming positions for students applying this fall for 2010 admittance. Even though my last child has already gone through this process I am very sympathetic for all the other kids and families who will face road blocks with our educational system. We have great schools but the state budget is compromising the future of so many young people and our society’s future.
It is very frustrating to be a Californian right now.

On a happier note, this will be a very busy week as my niece’s wedding is this Saturday.

I have made over 100 rosettes ranging from 20″ to 5″.

95 cookies are drying tonight so that leaves 30 more I need to finish up with the base coat tomorrow then the serious decorating begins.

I’ll post pics later on today just for fun.

Have a great Monday everyone! 🙂

  5. They have the Bubble Gum Tunnel where my college girl- to- be will be going to school here on the east coast. I was a little afraid to walk through it with the heat and humidity. My daughter moves in on Saturday and we are soooo behind!!
